Exhibition „Creatures“ 5.9. – 4.10.2025

A journey into your imagination.
Ryszard Zan’s creatures appear on canvas, in wood, and from stones as if from another world. Forms and colors become monsters, angels, faces, and beings. The artist creates them, the viewer recognizes them. Our imagination turns colors into feelings, shapes into movement—the viewer brings the image to life and becomes part of the creative process.
In this exhibition, Ryszard Zan presents paintings and sculptures that belong neither to the abstract world nor to the concrete world—they are a world of their own.

About

Biography

Ryszard Zan was born in Warsaw in 1952. After attending technical high school, he studied philosophy in Warsaw and Paris.

In 1983, he moved to Germany. While working as a technician in Cologne, he attended numerous courses in drawing, painting, and sculpture. During this time, he began creating small-format watercolors and drawings. Since 1997, Ryszard Zan has been working as an IT technician at the University of Cologne.

From 2007 to 2011, he studied sculpture and painting part-time at the Alanus Werkhaus in Alfter near Bonn. Since 2012, he has been continuing his studies with master’s courses.

Ryszard Zan lives in Finland.
